Call for Local Musicians and Artists Underway Now for New Downtown LIVE! Music and Art Activations this Summer

(May 7, 2021) – Live music and art activations spread across five “pop-up” stages are coming to downtown Sacramento as part of the all-new Downtown LIVE! series produced by the Downtown Sacramento Partnership. The re-imagined live entertainment program launching this June will activate the area through August 28, 2021. Interested local musicians and artists can now apply to be a part of the new summertime program designed to enhance the outdoor downtown experience while also creating a welcoming environment for the community to explore and support downtown businesses.

Interested local musicians and entertainers are invited to sign up for Downtown LIVE! to perform for a two-hour time slot on one of the stages throughout downtown. In addition, Downtown Sacramento Partnership is working with Leave Your Mark Sacramento to recruit muralists. All musicians, artists and entertainers will be paid for their performances plus have the opportunity to collect tips from and share promotional materials with their show audiences.

All Downtown LIVE! entertainers will be required to adhere to local and state health orders and safety measures during their performance, and physical distancing measures will be in place for those enjoying the entertaining live experiences. Starting in June, the Downtown LIVE! entertainment is scheduled at five different locations on five days of the week from 12-2 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. on Tuesdays through Saturdays with locations as follows:

Tuesdays – 12th & K Streets
Wednesdays – Ali Youssefi Square (7th & K Streets)
Thursdays – Embarcadero at the Old Sacramento Waterfront
Fridays – Cathedral Square (11th Street between J & K Streets)
Saturdays – Embarcadero at the Old Sacramento Waterfront

With community safety in mind, the Downtown LIVE! entertainment series is part of a multi-phased marketing campaign led by the Downtown Sacramento Partnership titled “We are Downtown. Together.” Tapping into a deep sense of pride for downtown Sacramento, the campaign features a variety of new programs such as the “Keep COVID In Check” initiative, special activations such as Waterfront Wheel and Front Street Carousel rides, advertising, and signage support, and more, all are made possible by the area’s property-based improvement district (PBID), Downtown Sacramento Partnership.
