Love is in the Air at the Old Sacramento Waterfront when a 10’ ‘Heart Arch’ Activation is Installed on the Embarcadero

(February 1, 2021) — An eye-catching and new art activation is coming to the Embarcadero at the Old Sacramento Waterfront this week that will steal the hearts of Sacramentans looking for safe and fun ways to treat that special Valentine. Presented by Downtown Sacramento Partnership and created by local artist Alyse Porzio of Steadfast Craft, the temporary 10’ “Heart Arch” will be decorated with hundreds of colorful flowers and be installed in the public space on the elevated Embarcadero this Wednesday morning, February 3. With views of the Sacramento River, Delta King, and Tower Bridge shining in the background, the “Heart Arch” is a lovely spot for selfies and the community is encouraged to take share their iconic photos on social and tag @DowntownSac and @OldSac. The “Heart Arch” will remain in place through the month of February.

During the installation on Wednesday morning, a historic locomotive – decked out in Valentine’s décor – will be in place on the nearby tracks to signify the return of excursion train rides on Sundays in February beginning on Valentine’s Day. With limited seating available, train ride tickets for February 14 go on sale that same day (February 3 at noon) with three Valentine’s Day train rides at 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
