Every month, we feature four storytellers who share true tales based on a given prompt. This month’s prompt is “Soundtracks.”
Our featured storytellers for July are:
Natasha Muse is a stand-up comedian and humorous writer who moved to San Francisco last century and hasn’t been pushed out of the City (yet). She likes puns, wordplay, and portmanteaus, and enjoys weaving them into jokes and comical bits about being trans, being a mom, and being alone with her thoughts. Some audiences don’t know what to make of her, so it’s a good thing she’s a self-made lady. When she’s not making scores of people laugh on stage, she’s plugging away at her blog. Natasha’s comedy is so good it’s not even funny.
Diane Amos is a San Francisco-based actress, improv artist, and comedian known as The Pine-Sol Lady, having starred in their national commercials for over 20 years and served as their spokesperson for almost 30 years. She has appeared in numerous films, including Nine Months, Copycat, Angels in the Outfield, EDTV, Twisted, and Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine. She was raised in San Francisco by two lesbian mothers and attended Washington High School in the Richmond District, where she took an improvisational comedy class… and the rest is history.
Shanti Charan is a stand-up comedian, writer, and storyteller based in the Bay Area. As the daughter of Indo-Fijian immigrants, her sharp humor and heartfelt storytelling reflect her experiences growing up as a second-generation American. Her comedy has earned her recognition from the San Francisco Bay Guardian as “Best Comedian” and from SF Weekly as “Best Stand-Up on the Way Up,” which praised her work as “clever and confident beyond her years.” She’s performed alongside talent like Fortune Feimster, Sheng Wang, Atsuko Okatsuka, and Hasan Minhaj.
Max Houghton is a humorist, human rights activist, content creator, self-proclaimed trophy-spouse, and award-winning storyteller.
Come be entertained, humans!
