Maggie Gomez-Devos and Raul Mejia (Soytiger) present a vibrant, eco-conscious art exhibition driven by the legendary Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo. Celebrated for her bold exploration of identity and resilience, this exhibit pays homage to her birthday and legacy through sustainable creativity.
This upcycled mixed-media collection showcases new works by Gomez-Devos and Mejia, with every aspect of the exhibition reflecting sustainable practices. Raul Mejia brings Kahlo to life through expressive portraits on reclaimed wooden panels. Echoing her intensity, each portrait is saturated in color and integrates symbolic storytelling. Maggie Gomez-Devos contributes a diverse array of pieces, from sculptural paper mache masks to fashion pieces created from repurposed textiles and found objects—including denim, jewelry, and stilettos. This multidisciplinary tribute reflects Kahlo’s aesthetic and her deep connection to personal authenticity.
This exhibition is a celebration of Frida’s influence found in art and fashion across generations and mediums, welcoming the community to experience art that honors heritage while embracing environmental responsibility.
The exhibition runs from June 14th until August 3rd, 2025. The gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday, 9:30am – 8pm (We close early on days which the temperature reaches 100 degrees – please call 916-642-9415 to inquire on hot days.)
