The Caribbean Currents Festival, a celebration of Caribbean-American Heritage Month, began in 2023 and has grown into an important cultural event for our community. This year, the festival will take place on June 28, 2026, in Sacramento. Caribbean Currents is organized by CBIEC in partnership with local organizations, artists, educators, and businesses. The festival features Caribbean music, dance, art, food, and educational programming that helps American audiences better understand the historical and geographic connections between the United States and Caribbean nations.
Hosted by the Caribbean Basin Institute for Education and Culture (CBIEC), this vibrant, family-friendly event brings together the rich cultures, music, art, and traditions of the Caribbean right here in our community.
What to Expect:
• Live Caribbean music and performances
• Cultural showcases and educational experiences
• Local vendors and authentic cuisine
• Activities for all ages
• Opportunities to connect, learn, and celebrate diversity
Our mission is to promote cultural understanding and appreciation of the Caribbean and its diaspora through engaging, inclusive programming that brings people together.
