ARTHOUSE on R  is proud to present the art exhibition “Above the Valley” at ARTHOUSE Gallery on historic R Street in Sacramento, December 13, 2025 – Jan 6, 2026.

Please join us as we feature original watercolors and giclee prints of Elaine Bowers’ work at ARTHOUSE on R Gallery, 1021 R Street in Sacramento. The opening reception is Saturday, December 13th from 5:00PM – 8:00PM.

Elaine Bowers made art as soon as she could hold a pencil. She worked as a graphic designer and art therapist while polishing her craft in watercolors, painting in a photo-realistic style. She loved the colors and textures of California’s landscape as observed from a plane. She photographed from a small plane and then painted her observations in her studio.

Elaine was awarded the Bronze Medal of Honor at the prestigious American Watercolor Society’s 146th International Exhibition in New York City. She was a “Signature Status” member of the American Watercolor Society (AWS) and the National Watercolor Society (NWS). Elaine’s art has been shown in several International Exhibitions and featured on several covers of Inside the City newspaper. Her art was used on the cover of the book “For Children Who Were Broken” by Elia Wise. Elaine was active her entire life in the struggle for Human Rights and the dog rescue movement.

Elaine passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in February of 2025. She leaves behind her partners, Bob Thompson and Bella Rose (a golden retriever rescued from the meat markets of China). Bob Thompson will be present for the Second Saturday reception.

This will probably be the final show of Elaine’s work. There are only a few original watercolors available. We hope you will visit ARTHOUSE and be touched by Elaine’s exquisite work.

In addition to the Gallery Show, ARTHOUSE resident artists will open their studios to the public for Second Saturday, December 13th, 5:00 – 8:00 PM.
