Your Downtown Sacramento Guide for CIM Weekend
The California International Marathon (CIM) is back on December 7, 2025, bringing thousands of runners from Folsom’s scenic foothills to the steps of the State Capitol. If you are planning to cheer the runners on or celebrate with loved ones, this guide has everything you need: the best places to watch the race, where to celebrate afterward, and how to make the most of your weekend downtown.
Race Week Itinerary: Eat, Sip, and Celebrate
Before you head to your cheer zone, kick off the day with a caffeine boost at one of these downtown coffee shops. Grab a seasonal latte, a warm pastry, or a quick breakfast sandwich to fuel up for the day. A few great picks: Chocolate Fish Coffee Roasters, Vines Café, Con Azúcar Café, Temple Coffee Roasters, and World Traveler Coffee Roasters. Then head to where all the action is happening and claim your spot near the bleachers at 7th and Capitol Mall for the best view of runners crossing the finish line!
Where to Cheer
The final miles of CIM are no joke, and Downtown Sacramento is the heart of the action. Here’s where to bring your energy:
- California State Capitol Park: Cheer on the runners during their last mile as they go through L Street.
- Finish Line at Capitol Mall: There’s nothing like watching runners cross the finish line from the bleachers near 7th & Capitol Mall, perfect for a front-row view.
- Spectator Tips: All entrances are on the south side of the finish area via N Street (use 9th St & N St or 10th St & N St gates). There is no access to the finish area from the north along the course on L Street.
Post-Race Celebrations
After the race, make your way to the north side of Capitol Mall & 10th Street for the official Post-Race Party Zone. Grab delicious bites from food trucks, sip fresh coffee, and enjoy the celebration. Runners score a free burrito and Firestone Walker beer, while everyone can join in with extra brews for purchase. Keep the party going at these nearby hotspots: Revival at The Sawyer and Darling Aviary for rooftop views and cocktails, or unwind at 7th Street Standard and Butcher & Barrel for a chiller vibe. Still have some extra energy? Grab some friends and try a round of indoor mini-golf at Tipsy Putt.
