Where to Grab Takeout After Work in downtown

featured image

Some days you leave work with dinner already planned. Other days, you’re hungry and have no idea what you’re eating. On those days, skip the drive-thru and grab takeout from one of downtown’s Sacramento’s local restaurants instead. There’s plenty of good food spots just a few minutes from the office. Who knows, you might even find a new favorite to add to your takeout rotation.

Bangkok@12 Thai

The portions here are generous enough to fill you up and still leave you with lunch for the next day. Sounds like a win-win to me. You can’t go wrong with the chicken pad thai, and speaking from experience, it holds up pretty well after a night in the fridge.

House Kitchen & Bar

Takeout doesn’t always have to mean grabbing something quick and calling it dinner. Treat yourself to a good meal from House. I’d go with the Sweet Corn Tamale Cakes and Mary’s Chicken Marsala.

Chef Burma

After a long day, sometimes you just want a homemade meal that comes in a big portion. Chef Burma’s Burmese dishes are packed with flavor and made for sharing, but I wouldn’t blame you for keeping the combination fried rice and black pepper lamb all to yourself.

Sushi Paradise

A couple of fresh sushi rolls, a good movie, and dinner at home? I’m sold. If you want more than sushi, their bento boxes come with a little bit of everything, so you can skip the decision-making and get the full meal.

Vegan Deadly Sins

Think of your classic Chinese takeout combo, but with a vegan twist. Vegan Deadly Sins has generous portions and plenty of options, making it an especially good pick when you’re ordering for a few people at home.

Cariño

You can’t go wrong with a Mexican takeout night. Grab a grande burrito and save half for tomorrow’s lunch. Or mix it up with tacos, flautas, and a cold horchata. The “hardest” part about ordering from Cariño is the self-control to not order the whole menu.

Citizen Capitol Craft House

You can’t finish an after-work takeout list without some good pub food. Grab a Citizen smash burger, bacon and Brussels sprouts, and their house fries, then head home and settle in. This is the kind of dinner that has you thinking about it before you’ve even left work.

Your dinner plans are already set up for you downtown

If you’re already downtown for work, take advantage of the food options right outside the office. Skip the drive-thru, grab something from a local spot you’ve been wanting to try, and end the night glad you did.
