Third Thursday in Old Sacramento Waterfront Itinerary (December 2025)

featured image

So much of the charm of Old Sacramento Waterfront is in the architecture, the cobblestones, wooden buildings, and brick facades. They all remind me of a slower time. I typically take my time when visiting Old Sacramento because there’s so much to discover. I thought I’d create a leisurely Third Thursday itinerary geared for popping in and out of shops and chatting with artists and experts, without rushing through the magic.

Third Thursday Itinerary

Old Sacramento Waterfront | 4–8 p.m.

4:00–4:30 p.m. | Start with a Warm Welcome

Pittador Brews: Coffee & Tea Tasting
Kick off the evening with something cozy. Sip coffee or tea, chat with the team, and get grounded before heading into the creative buzz of the waterfront. This is a great “arrive anytime” stop that sets the tone for the night.

4:30–5:15 p.m. | Hands-On Holiday Crafting

Threadeco: Fabric Wreaths & Ornaments
Ease into crafting with fabric-based projects that feel festive but low-pressure. You’ll get quick tips you can reuse at home and something tangible to take with you.

Optional nearby pop-in:

5:15–6:00 p.m. | Art + Storytelling

Sacramento History Museum: The Art of Tatting
Slow things down with a beautiful lace-making demo rooted in tradition. Even if you don’t plan to tat at home, it’s fascinating to watch and learn the history behind the craft.

Nearby alternatives if you’re feeling playful:

6:00–6:45 p.m. | Dinner Break + Creative Sips

The Parliament Wine Lounge: Craft with Corks
Grab a glass, snack a little, and turn wine corks into something fun. This is an ideal mid-evening stop when you want to sit, socialize, and still be creative without standing the whole time.

6:45–7:30 p.m. | Learn Something Meaningful

Super Silver: Turquoise 101, The Birthstone of December
From ancient traditions to modern jewelry, explore the story of turquoise. Super Silver’s Turquoise 101 offers an approachable introduction to December’s birthstone and the craftsmanship behind it.

7:30–8:00 p.m. | Wind Down + Explore

Explore the map and full list below and choose your own adventure to close out the night.
