ARTHOUSE on R eagerly unveils the art exhibition “The Mapped Experience: Line, Layer, and Stillness” at ARTHOUSE ON R Gallery on historic R Street in Sacramento.  The opening reception, including an opportunity to meet the artist, is Saturday, April 11th from 5PM-8PM.

“The Mapped Experience: Line, Layer, and Stillness” presents a series of works that bridge printmaking, painting, and collage through a shared language of structure and restraint.

Grids appear as quiet frameworks built from layered ink, watercolor, and paper, revealing subtle shifts of tone and structure.

Each piece emphasizes process which show the accumulation of line and the construction of surface.  The process creates compositions that feel both architectural and meditative.  Monochromatic palettes and translucent materials invite close looking, turning repetition and variation into the study of rhythm, stillness, and spatial depth.

Chanel is a geometric abstract artist and printmaker whose works explores the intersection of organic and structured space.  Rooted in repetition and form, her compositions reflect a meditative response to physical and psychological environments.  Working primarily with drawing, printmaking, and mixed media, she preserves the artists hand in every mark, inviting viewers into a layered process of navigation and reflection, leaving each print a unique state.

Originally from Sacramento, Chanel hold a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and studied at Central Saint Martins in London.  After graduation, she worked in Los Angelos at Josephine Press before a yearlong post graduate residency at The Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw Poland for interdisciplinary Printmaking provided by the EU SPINAKER Program.  She went on to live and work internationally, including time inn Prague and Australia.   While based in Sydney, she created works at the Willoughby Arts Centre and served as secretary of the North Sidney Printmakers Association.  After a decade abroad, she returned to Sacramento, where she now works out of Myrtle Press and is a member of the California Society of Printmakers.

In addition to the Gallery Show, ARTHOUSE resident artists will open their studios to the public for Second Saturday April 11th from 5PM – 8PM.
