In celebration of Black History Month the Sacramento Black Expo Committee and Crest Theater are inviting everyone to the most fascinating history retrospective “Praise, Preach, Sang And Dance” highlighting The History Of Gospel Music from the early beginnings until today. Gospel Music has a long cherished history in America saving souls, creating the sounds of music that is the base of just about every from of music from country, rock, R&B and hip hop, it all began with Gospel. Once you enter the magnificent Crest Theater downtown Sacramento, the K Street Mall will be transformed into a spectacle of music embellishing the love and joy of Gospel music. Inside the theater you will see the our Gospel Music Walk Of Fame with pictures and information about those creators and purveyors of America's original music artform.  Let the show begin with a full scale concert starring over 15 different singers, bands, choirs, praise teams, major recoding stars that you love. “Preach, Praise, Sang And Dance,” will take you on a historical journey. The music from Thomas Dorsey, who is credited with being the “Godfather Of Gospel,' into the stunning vocals of Mahalia Jackson who is the Queen, and the incredible Sister Rosetta Tharpe; to James Cleveland, the soul of Aretha Franklin, the Edwin Hawkins Singers, straight up today's stars of Gospel like Kirk Franklin. It is all done through music by amazing entertainers and recording stars live for your enjoyment. This is and entertaining educational show where you become keenly aware of how Gospel Music impacts America as a nation in just about every aspect. It was Gospel Music that carried the voices of the civil rights movement; it was Gospel Music that helped women get the right to vote; it is Gospel Music that comforts those in foreign wars in enemy territories and it will be Gospel Music that unites us all in the time of trial and tribulations.
