ARTHOUSE on R proudly presents “Palimpsest” featuring abstract mixed media paintings created by innovative artist Taner Paşamehmetoğlu. On view from May 8 through June 8, 2026, the exhibition will be featured in the ARTHOUSE Gallery, located in Sacramento’s historic and creative R Street Corridor. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 9, from 5–8 PM, where visitors are invited to meet the artist.

Taner Paşamehmetoğlu is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores consumerism, conservation, and his own cultural hybridity, often approaching heavy subject matter with humor. Working primarily in acrylic and oil painting, his process incorporates upcycled materials and packaging, and natural elements like rain, wind and heat, blurring the lines between artist and environment, consumer and creator. “PALIMSEST” describes the layering of visual information and refers to the artist’s exploration of the transformative power of color, shape, texture and rhythm to communicate his experience of the world.

In 2024, Paşamehmetoğlu completed an artist residency with the City of Sacramento’s Office of Climate Action and Sustainability, culminating in a collaborative community mural now part of the city’s Art in Public Places collection and on view at the Joe Mims, Jr. Hagginwood Community Center. His work has been exhibited throughout California and Utah, and his painting “The American Dream” has been used in curriculum at the University of California, Berkeley.

Paşamehmetoğlu works from his home studio in Sacramento and is a member artist at Axis Gallery and Atrium 916.

The exhibit is curated by ARTHOUSE studio artists June Daskalakis and Sarah Whyte.

In addition to the featured exhibition, ARTHOUSE resident artists will open their studios to the public during Second Saturday, May 9, from 5–8 PM, offering visitors an inside look at Sacramento’s thriving creative community.
