Experience “championship weekend” robotics at the Northern California VEX IQ Regional Championships, where 500 students across 104 teams compete with robots they designed, built, and programmed. Matches are fast and fun to watch: in this season’s game, Mix & Match, two-robot alliances race through 60-second rounds to collect, sort, and stack colored goals. You'll see smart strategy, precise driving, and real teamwork under pressure.
The event takes place at the SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity (MOSAC), 400 Jibboom Street, Sacramento, on Saturday, Feb. 28 (Elementary School Championships) and Sunday, March 1 (Middle School Championships), 10:00 AM–5:00 PM each day, with best spectator viewing from about 10:30 AM–4:00 PM and finals/awards around 4:30 PM. Admission is through regular MOSAC museum tickets (Adult $19.95; Youth ages 2–17 $16.95; members and children under 2 are free), and spectators can also explore MOSAC exhibits and the planetarium during their visit.
