This winter, ARTHOUSE on R proudly presents “Memories and the Spirit,” a powerful exhibition celebrating reflection, connection, and the beauty of the human experience. On view from January 9 through February 10, 2026, the exhibition will be featured in the ARTHOUSE Gallery, located in Sacramento’s historic and creative R Street Corridor.
An opening reception will be held on Saturday, January 10, from 5:00–8:00 PM, where visitors are invited to meet featured artists Lauren Dunlap Muse-Fisher of Musepaints and Tracey Zavala, and experience their latest acrylic and mixed-media works in person.
Both artists, based in Sacramento, share a deep commitment to exploring the connections between art, emotion, and environment. Drawing from their backgrounds in art, design, and mental health, their work reflects compassion, healing, and the power of creative storytelling.
Lauren Dunlap Muse-Fisher is a painter, muralist, and designer whose career path has intertwined art and service. A former mental health therapist, Lauren worked extensively with youth and under-resourced communities before returning to painting full-time five years ago. Her colorful, vibrant landscapes honor memory, transformation, and the passage of time, expressing both love and gratitude for community and nature.
Tracey Zavala is a multidisciplinary artist, muralist, designer, and art therapist whose work centers on community engagement, environmental stewardship, and the beauty of human connection. In this exhibit, her 3D ReContext Art invites viewers to pause and reflect. Using humble egg cartons—containers once holding life—Zavala transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. Through meticulous craftsmanship and vibrant bursts of color, her sculptures balance playfulness with quiet contemplation. This thoughtful transformation honors what was, celebrates what is, and reminds us that even the overlooked or discarded can embody profound beauty.
In addition to the featured exhibition, ARTHOUSE resident artists will open their studios to the public during Second Saturday, January 10, from 5:00–8:00 PM, offering visitors an inside look at Sacramento’s thriving creative community.
