Sacramento entrepreneurs are offered the opportunity to get one year of free rent downtown
SACRAMENTO, Calif. —The Sacramento Downtown Sacramento Partnership and Anthem Properties are offering some entrepreneurs one year of free rent. Mike Peebles with Anthem Properties said the offer is for up to 10 business owners interested in leasing a ground floor space at the Envoy Apartment Complex.
“We don’t want the retailer to open up on day one and already be in a tough position,” said Peebles.
On Thursday afternoon, participants of the “Calling All Dreamers” program toured the spaces located at 11th and J streets. They are the ones who are eligible for the offer.
Acme Won, who won the program in 2018 and now owns two businesses, said finding a place to establish is sometimes the biggest challenge.
“The lease, rent, especially for the first year was the biggest obstacle,” Wong said.
Scott Ford with the Downtown Sacramento Partnership said they hope to remove that barrier with this offer.
At the same time, he believes this can help revitalize the area.
“Bringing in new business concepts, supporting entrepreneurs on their way to permanency here and really helping write this next chapter of Downtown Sacramento,” Ford said.
Ford said they will guide and provide resources to the business owners that take the offer.
