Work Here, Eat There: O & N Street Buildings

featured image

Work on either O or N street near the California Department of Veterans Affairs, California Department of Transportation, California State Clearinghouse, Capitol Annex Swing Space, or the Employment Development Department?

You’re surrounded by great coffee and lunch spots that make stepping away from your desk easy. Grab a quick bite between meetings or take a little more time to enjoy lunch, all without going too far from the office.

Lunch

Bistro Bravado
Grab the Chicken BLT Sandwich for lunch and take advantage of their shared patio seating. You’ll get one of downtown’s best views of the State Capitol’s North Wing while you eat.

Cafe Connection
If you want homemade Caribbean cuisine, Cafe Connection will get you right. If you’re craving something sweet after lunch, Goodie Tuchews is right next door.

Kindred Seoul
If you’re craving Korean food, Kindred Seoul is an easy lunch pick. Their homestyle Korean-inspired bowls are filling without feeling like you need an afternoon nap.

Lara Cafeteria
The portions are generous without breaking the bank, and the weekly specials are worth checking out. You get a good amount of food for the price, and the flavors always hit the spot.

Panzón Mexican Grill
A quick stop for classic Mexican dishes. Think Chipotle, but locally owned. They also have outdoor tables, which makes it easy to spend your lunch outside.

Prelude Kitchen & Bar
Save Prelude for a day when you have a little more time. It’s an elevated lunch experience and a nice option for a lunch meeting or to enjoy your break. If you can, ask to sit on the patio.

Coffee

Barrio Downtown
Barrio is a good spot when you want to switch up your usual coffee run. They have reasonably priced handcrafted drinks and friendly staff that always make it a nice stop.

Chocolate Fish Coffee Roasters
Easy to keep going back to for their coffee blends and seasonal specials. They also have a good pastry selection. I usually go for the cheddar biscuit when I’m craving something savory for breakfast.

The State Grind
Need a midday coffee recharge? Stop by for a coffee or espresso, and grab a snack if your afternoon is starting to drag.

Starbucks (10th & L Street)
When you need your usual Starbucks order, this location is just a few steps away. Place a mobile order if you’re on a time crunch and need to be in and out.

Save this for your next lunch or coffee break

Breaking up the workday can be as simple as trying somewhere new. Save this list, share it with a coworker, and keep it handy the next time you’re deciding where to grab coffee or lunch.
