AUGUST 29TH: “BULLIES”
Featured Storytellers

Brian Copeland is an award-winning actor, comedian, author, playwright, television and radio talk show host based in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2004, Copeland debuted his first one-man play, “Not a Genuine Black Man,” at the Marsh in San Francisco. The play explored his childhood experiences as a member of one of the only African American families living in the then 94% white suburb of San Leandro, California. His tale of laughter, tears, and sociology went on to become the longest-running solo show in San Francisco theatrical history with over 1,000 performances.

Corey Rosen is a writer, actor, visual effects producer and author of “Your Story, Well Told.” He hosts The Moth StorySlam in the Bay Area and has been featured on The Moth Radio Hour. Corey has written for TV, movies, and theme park rides and enjoys designing and leading storytelling and applied improvisation workshops for companies including Pixar Animation Studios, Airbnb, Google, Meta, Apple, Cisco, UC Berkeley, and Industrial Light & Magic. In his spare time, Corey collects snowglobes, random electronic cables, and memorable life experiences.

Kimberlli Joy has been weaving truth into her stories for as long as she could talk. In June 2022, she was thrilled to share her first story on stage at The Moth. Now a familiar face at Redwood Nights Storytelling under the Stars, she has also entertained audiences at Oakland Story Slam, About Last Night, Wine and Words and The Marsh. You can catch her on Gem Tales, a podcast where she and her cohost get excited about uncovering the gems in the stories that shape us. Whether she's spinning a yarn or cracking up the crowd, Kimberlli Joy aims to open hearts.

Kathleen Taylor is a writer, educator, and storyteller. Trained as a social-cultural psychologist, she believes that art disrupts complacency and that true human inclusion kicks cynicism to the curb. Founder of VeteranWomensVoices.org, she leads no-cost writing retreats for women veterans. A triple Moth Story Slam winner, Kathleen is easily found on various Bay Area stages.

In a Nutshell is hosted and curated by storytelling comedian Keith Lowell Jensen, book editor Amy Bee, and author Aaron Carnes, three friends who want nothing more than to give humans laughter, insight, and the full spectrum of emotion from the absolute best live storytellers in the universe — that’s all. Come and get what you need, human! You deserve to connect, reflect, and celebrate the power of live storytelling. You are welcome here!
