Downtown Sacramento Partnership Showcases Pivotal Collaborations at State of Downtown
DSP highlights catalytic projects in our region’s central neighborhood
SACRAMENTO, CALIF. (February 25, 2025) – Downtown Sacramento Partnership unveiled new projects coming to downtown at their annual State of Downtown event, emphasizing the importance of public-private partnerships, bold leadership, and our region’s growing spirit of collaboration to make the heart of Sacramento a thriving regional asset.
Downtown Sacramento Partnership, a private not-for-profit Property-based Improvement District (PBID), currently manages the 66-blocks of Sacramento’s downtown core, providing supplemental services on both the micro and macro level, including economic development, public realm management, events and activations, marketing and branding, advocacy, and more. Following the economic impact reveal at the 2024 State of Downtown, Downtown Sacramento Partnership has been working – and encouraging others – to embrace innovative solutions to Sacramento’s toughest problems, including creative financing strategies, the removal of policy barriers to infill housing solutions, continuing to improve clean and safe fundamentals, community building and enhancing the visitor experience.
“From DSP’s earliest days, we’ve acted as facilitators of collaboration between public and private partners. That principle still rings true today, and has never been more critical to our future,” said Michael Ault, Executive Director of Downtown Sacramento Partnership. “There was a time that Sacramento was seen as the defender of the status quo. But it is our responsibility to not let that be our identity again.”
Leaders from Downtown Sacramento Partnership, Kaiser Permanente, Sacramento Kings, Athletics, SMUD, and Sacramento State spoke on innovative developments in the central city, thanking Downtown Sacramento Partnership for operating as a major facilitator in these collaborations. Several developments were unveiled, including Sac State actively evaluating opportunities for downtown mixed-use university village.
“On behalf of Sacramento State, I want to express our deepest gratitude to the Downtown Sacramento Partnership for your unwavering support to our vibrant city,” spoke Dr. Luke Wood. “Together, we’ve achieved so much, yet the possibilities before us are endless.”
Other noteworthy projects included dynamic, color-changing LED lighting coming to the central K Street corridor to create a more cohesive pedestrian experience between Downtown Commons and the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center and a new culinary concept called “Aiona” from Deneb Williams and Elizabeth-Rose Mandalou, the duo behind Michelin-rated Allora in East Sacramento that is scheduled to open at 1213 K Street this fall.
