Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink Returns For Another Season of Winter Magic

Official opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for Sacramento’s premier outdoor ice rink to take place on November 5 at 10:30 a.m.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (October 27, 2025) – Get ready to lace up those ice skates – the Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink, presented by Dignity Health, is back for another unforgettable season of winter fun. Opening Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 7th and K Streets in Ali Youssefi Square, the rink will once again transform the heart of downtown into a festive holiday gathering place for families, friends, and visitors. To kick off the 33rd season, local leaders, partners, and community members will gather for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m., followed by $2 Opening Day admission when the rink opens to the public at 2 p.m.

“The Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink represents what downtown does best – bringing people together to create lasting memories,” said Michael Ault, Executive Director of the Downtown Sacramento Partnership. “It’s a cherished Sacramento tradition and we’re grateful to our community leaders and partners for their support in bringing this tradition to life year after year.”

Nestled amongst downtown’s most festive destinations, from the holiday tree in Old Sacramento Waterfront and the shows at the SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center, the rink is just steps away from Golden 1 Center, DOCO, and dozens of shops and restaurants. Open Tuesdays through Sundays until January 19, 2026, it’s the perfect winter stop for visitors and locals looking to celebrate the season. Skaters can enjoy group reservations for 10+ people with 2-hour sessions when they book online, or reserve the entire rink for a private event or party by calling 916-442-8575.

Skaters can also look forward to themed events and community activations throughout the season, offering a variety of ways to enjoy the holiday season:

November Special Events:

  • Opening Day Celebration: 2 – 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5

On Opening Day, visitors can skate freshly made ice and join Downtown Sacramento Partnership and valued partners in kicking off the season; reduced admission is $2.

  • Veterans Day: 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11

Downtown Sacramento is celebrating the people in uniform this Veterans Day. Active military and veterans skate FREE all day and throughout the season (with valid military ID).

  • Princess & Superhero Day: 12 – 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15

The annual Princess & Superhero Day returns to the Ice Rink where skaters of all ages can skate with special guests like Elsa, Anna, Incredible Hulk, and Spiderman. Skaters are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite princess or superhero.

  • Donation Weeks Presented by Western Health Advantage: Monday, Nov. 17 to Sunday, Nov. 30

‘Tis the season to give back! Western Health Advantage has teamed up with the Ice Rink to help spread cheer this year and has partnered with First Step Communities to organize donations for those experiencing homelessness in the Sacramento area. The Ice Rink will be collecting much needed items and accepting donations all day. Spend the day with a loved one and spread some holiday spirit for a great cause. Bring something to donate and receive $5 off skate admission.

Suggested items to donate: Winter hats, gloves, scarfs, blankets

  • Crafting with Kindness Presented by Dignity Health: 12 – 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23 and Nov. 30

Skaters of all ages are encouraged to come to the Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink to celebrate Crafting with Kindness presented by Dignity Health. Copper House Boutique will be leading both craft days with their own jewelry making lessons!

Ice Rink Hours and Pricing:

The price to skate is the same as previous years: $15 for general admission and $8 for children ages 6 and under. Skating admission includes skate rental, and sizes run as small as youth 8 and as large as men’s 15. Skaters can enjoy the rink from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays through Sundays (weather permitting). Skaters can call 916-738-0703 to find out if the rink is open during inclement weather.

  • Free skate for Sacramento Kings Kids Club All-Star Members
  • Free skate for active military or veterans with valid military ID
