Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink Opens November 11

29th season of Sacramento’s premier outdoor rink to kick off the holiday tradition

(Nov. 8, 2021) – The Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink presented by Dignity Health will open for the season on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 7th & K Streets in the heart of downtown Sacramento.Open Tuesday through Sunday through Sunday, January 16, 2022, the Downtown Sacramento Partnership is thrilled to bring back the Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink for it’s 29th season after taking the year off in 2020.

“The Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink brings the community together every holiday season,” said Michael Ault, Executive Director of Downtown Sacramento Partnership. “We are beyond excited that we get to bring this family-favorite winter tradition back this year!”

Elected officials, community leaders, and others will celebrate the official “kick off” of the Ice Rink with a special ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 12, 2021. After the ceremony, skaters from the Capital City Skating Club will take to the ice for a brief program before the rink opens to the public for the day.

 

Ice Rink hours and pricing:

General admission is $13 and always just $6 for children 6 and under. Skating admission includes skate rental, sizes run as small as 8 youth. Skaters can enjoy the rink from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

Special events and activations lineup:
The ice rink will host a variety of exciting events and activations perfect for enjoying the holiday season.

Veterans Day: 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11

Downtown Sac is celebrating the men and women in uniform this Veterans Day. Active Military and Veterans skate free all day (with valid military ID).

Princess & Superhero Day: 12 – 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13

The annual Princess & Superhero day, presented by SacRT, returns to the Ice Rink , skaters of all ages are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite princess or superhero and can expect visits from special guests, face painting, and more. 

Crafting Kindness: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Sundays, Nov. 14, Dec. 12, Jan. 9

Presented by Dignity Health, celebrate Sacramento’s growing art scene by participating in the production of a community art piece at the Ice Rink. Enjoy a hands-on workshop to create unique crafts to share with friends and family, and skate into the week.
