Federal Budgets & Streetcar Ballots

On February 2, we received news that the President’s FY 16 budget set aside $75 million for the federal government’s match on the downtown streetcar project, which has now been endorsed by DSP, as well as by the Midtown Business Association, the Metro Chamber, and Region Builders.

But for the project to move forward, a majority of ballots cast by property owners with parcels within the three blocks of the proposed route must support the effort.  The City mailed these ballots to owners.  To have your vote count, you must ensure it is in the physical possession of the City Clerk’s office no later than 5 pm on Tuesday, February 17, when the ballots will be publicly opened and counted.

If your property is within the streetcar boundaries, and you have not received a ballot, please contact Sheri Smith with the City of Sacramento, at [email protected] or 916-808-7204.  Sheri can assist in locating ballots and, where needed, issuing replacements.
