DSP Helps Pass Cab Rehab

By a unanimous vote, the City Council enacted sweeping new regulations of the taxi industry designed to ensure a consistently high-quality experience for consumers.

All cab drivers must now accept credit cards, operate with a central dispatch system, dress professionally, pass an exam on basic English and Sacramento geography, and drive cars that are eight years old or less.

DSP joined the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Sacramento hospitality industry, and some taxi industry leaders to press for these much-needed upgrades that will help keep Sacramento catch up with other cities who have adopted much more rigorous requirements for their taxi industries.
