Meet DSP Public Relations Specialist, Jordyn Anderson

Meet Jordyn Anderson, our new Public Relations Specialist. Jordyn hails from the private sector, having cut her teeth at a local agency, 3fold Communications, and will ensure all of DSP’s PR and media relations efforts are focused to support business development and advocacy efforts while promoting downtown Sacramento’s brand. Take a few and get to know her.

Jordyn_headshotWhat was it about this position that appealed to you?

I truly felt the job description itself was written for me. Plus, this is such an incredible time for Sacramento. Being presented the opportunity to be a part of, and influence, the rise of downtown is something I did not take lightly and am so excited for!

What was your first impression of DSP?

The team is so close! During my first week, the guys in the office and husbands of a few staff took a “guys weekend” away and I loved that. It’s a testament to the tight-knit DSP community – even the partners and families of team members are close.

What makes downtown Sacramento so unique and special?

The energy. You can’t help but feel it when you strike up a conversation with a local, hit up the newest restaurant or bar, or catch up on all the new developments downtown. This is the time to live, work, play, and invest in downtown Sacramento.

What are a few of the can’t-miss spots in downtown Sac?

Well, I just tried Vampire Penguin for the first time and it changed my life, lol. I had no idea what I was in for – I’m purposefully being vague so you’ll have to check it out. Mayahuel and Ambrosia are tied for #1 lunch spots and Andy’s Candy Apothecary still has my heart (and my sweet tooth).

For fun, I love Coin-Op. I’m terrible at nearly every video game but I’m getting pretty good at their giant Jenga.

What’s your sign?

I was born 15 minutes over the cusp between Aries and Taurus, Taurus-side, and I definitely identify with both. I’m creative and adaptive but stubborn and tenacious. I like to believe I’m carefree but when it comes down to it, I can be a perfectionist to a fault – I nerd out over To Do lists and excel spreadsheets.

What do you do in your spare time?

Read, Netflix (I love that it’s become a verb), and get outdoors as much as possible. I’ll always embrace Sacramento’s heat as long as I’m near water.

Coffee or tea?

Both – morning coffee, evening tea.

Dogs or cats?

I don’t have any pets but when I do she/he will be a big dog that loves to be outside as much as I do.

Bike, car, or public transportation?

Car daily, bike for outdoor fun, and public transportation for downtown adventures.

Hobbies?

I’m on a DIY home décor kick and should probably put the gold spray paint down…

People would be surprised to know that:

I am a native New Mexican…sort of. I was born in Albuquerque but three months post-welcome-to-the-world my parents threw a dart on a map of California and I took my first road trip to my true hometown, Petaluma.

Also, my middle name really is True.
