Downtown Certified Farmers’ Markets Return May 1
(April 18, 2019) – Downtown Sacramento’s favorite seasonal Certified Farmers’ Markets return to the grid beginning Wednesday, May 1, 2019. Downtown workers and visitors will enjoy hot lunch options from an array of Sacramento’s most popular food vendors while also picking up their weekly groceries supplied by local farmers in Cesar Chavez Plaza on Wednesdays and on Capitol Mall on Thursdays.
- Wednesdays: 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., May 1 – Oct. 30

- Thursdays: 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., May 2 – Sept. 26 (no market July 4)
Capitol Mall, 6th Street & Capitol Mall
Beginning May 2, join Kaiser Permanente for a physician-led, one-mile walk in downtown Sacramento as part of Walk to Thrive. Meet rain or shine at the Kaiser Permanente booth at 6th Street and Capitol Mall at 11:45 a.m. every Thursday. Sign up for the Walk to Thrive club online at kpwalktothrive.org for a free T-shirt and weekly email reminders with health tips and prizes for walking regularly. Club members are not required to be Kaiser Permanente members to participate.
“I encourage anyone who lives or works near downtown Sacramento to join me at the kick-off walk on Thursday, May 2,” said Eduardo Bermudez, MD, Medical Services Director for Kaiser Permanente’s new Downtown Commons Medical Offices. “It’s a great way to get some exercise and fresh air and enjoy our thriving downtown community together.”
Produced by Downtown Sacramento Partnership, in collaboration with Certified Farmers’ Markets of Sacramento County, the Downtown Certified Farmers’ Markets host nearly 30 food vendors plus 100 farmers and attract more than 175,000 shoppers seasonally. In June, head chef Dane Blom of Grange Restaurant & Bar will resume restaurant’s popular “Follow the Chef” tours at the Cesar Chavez Plaza Market. Tickets include a seasonally-inspired lunch and will be available soon at GrangeRestaurantandBar.com.
