Considered a modern classic, WHAT THE CONSTITUTION MEANS TO ME navigates our modern American landscape through reflection, narrative, and civil debate. Fifteen-year-old Heidi earned her college tuition by winning Constitutional debate competitions across the U.S. Later in her life, she reflects on those competitions and the impact they had on her as an American citizen. In this hilarious new play, she resurrects her teenage self in order to trace the profound relationship between four generations of women and the founding document that shaped their lives.

Praise For WHAT THE CONSTITUTION MEANS TO ME:

“Endearingly funny and deeply affecting. It would be hard to identify a work for the theater with its finger more on the pulse of American right now.” – The Washington Post

“Joy comes from watching an imaginative new kind of theater emerge…The best and most important new play of the season.” – The New York Times

“Uproariously funny, wrenchingly moving, critically challenging and politically inspiring.” – The New York Review of Books

“It should play in every city in America.” – The New Yorker

“Buoyant and often stirring – the theatrical curriculum Americans desperately need now.” – Los Angeles Times

“A wildfire! Something every citizen must see.” – Time Out, New York
