New York–based bassist and composer Essiet Okon Essiet has recorded and toured with a true who’s who of jazz legends, including Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, the Blue Note All-Stars, Cedar Walton, and Abbey Lincoln, among many others.

This special performance also features New York/San Francisco drummer Sylvia Cuenca, a powerhouse musician who toured extensively with Joe Henderson and Clark Terry for 17 years.

Rounding out the ensemble are local piano virtuoso Joe Gilman and acclaimed saxophonist Jacam Manricks.
In addition to paying homage to the great jazz bassists who helped shape the music we know today—Charles Mingus, Ray Brown, Paul Chambers, and Oscar Pettiford—the program will showcase original compositions by Essiet Okon Essiet and Sylvia Cuenca, celebrating both the legacy and the living evolution of the jazz tradition.
