This class explores art as a way of managing mental health while learning techniques of drawing skeletons and incorporating dried flowers and plants. The teacher will also hold space for discussing the connection to self expression around mental health. You are encouraged to bring flowers of your choice to the first session for pressing, but there will be flowers provided to those that don’t bring any.

About the Instructor

Fay, the self taught artist behind Faykeart, has worked in Mental Health as a Youth and Family Mental Health Advocate within education for the past 5 years. She is passionate about the intersectionality between creativity and mental health. She has an educational background in Cognitive Science and is pursuing a Masters in Psychology with emphasis in Therapy. She specializes in ink drawing of animals and people, specifically in drawing anatomically correct skeletons. She also works with dried flowers and pulls inspiration from the cycle of life as seen around us. She believes in utilizing art as a way to cope and express things we don’t fully understand or have a difficult time processing. In the past few years she has used her art as a extension of her grief to find beauty in death. In the future she plans to create a wellness center that functions as a therapy practice, open studio and gallery.
