Lighting solutions for downtown property owners

The Downtown Sacramento Partnership recently hosted Downtown Lighting Forum – the first in a two part series of workshops on lighting standards for downtown property owners.

If your property lies within the below downtown district boundaries, there is still time to work with us to improve lighting on your building – and it’s easy.

Please note: If your property does NOT lie within the below downtown district boundaries (i.e Old Sacramento property owners), the following lighting standards do not apply.

Why good lighting is important:

  • More than 50% of violent crime occurs after dark
  • Retail sales drop 35% after 6 p.m.
  • Good lighting can help customers feel safe
  • LED lighting can result in a minimum of 50% energy savings

How to get started:

DSP, the City and SMUD are working closely to ensure lighting updates are easy and affordable for property owners. SMUD will work with you to conduct a complimentary lighting consultation on your building and identify improvements. You will also receive upgrade recommendations and assistance to qualify for SMUD rebates.

Next step:

Contact SMUD lighting forum advisor, Rodney Turner, at (916) 732-5635 or [email protected] to schedule your property audit.

Audit dates:

  • May 9 (after 9 a.m.)
  • May 11

Please download & print an audit form to be filled out during your property consultation.

Downtown Lighting Forum is a collaborative effort between Downtown Sacramento Partnership, City of Sacramento Economic Development Department, City of Sacramento Police Department, and SMUD.
