Nash & Proper Announce Restaurant Locations

(Jan. 21, 2020) The winners of the 2019 Calling All Dreamers small business competition, Cecil Rhodes II and Jake Bombard, today announced their winning concept for a downtown storefront will open at 1023 K Street this spring. Nash & Proper’s first brick-and-mortar outpost will feature their wildly popular Nashville-style fried chicken just blocks from the State Capitol, Golden 1 Center and busy activity along The Kay, one of downtown Sacramento’s main commercial arteries.

“We were thrilled to get the call to consider such an iconic location in downtown,” said Cecil Rhodes II, founder and co-owner of Nash & Proper. “We are grateful to Chef Mike Thiemann and Bob Emerick, who have been tremendously supportive and can’t wait to open our doors. We are committed to keeping this location a top destination for delicious food!”

Sacramento-born chefs and co-owners, Cecil Rhodes II and Jake Bombard, have always dreamed of evolving their popular Nash & Proper food trucks into Sacramento’s first restaurant to focus on hot chicken, a fiery and fried variety inspired by Nashville’s famous flavor. They take pride in developing their own spin on the iconic dish that’s inspired their 20,000 Instagram followers craving more.

Continued Rhodes, “I truly feel like this is an opportunity of a lifetime and will proudly welcome our current – and new fans – with open arms.”

Past winners of the six-year-old Calling All Dreamers competition have included Andy’s Candy Apothecary, The Allspicery, Oblivion Comics & Coffee and Milk House Shakes.

The annual Calling All Dreamers competition is produced by Downtown Sacramento Partnership. The 2019 competition is presented by Kaiser Permanente with support from program sponsors SCORE, City of Sacramento, Wells Fargo, SMUD, Marquee Media and more. The prize package is made possible with the support of sponsors who continue to be champions for the economic growth of the downtown core: MeringCarson, L2J Interiors, SMP Law Corp and more.
