The first annual Downtown Kid's Week, which runs from July 11 through 18, highlights family-friendly activities and businesses within the Central City. Families from around the region are invited to join in the fun by exploring the cultural treasures in their own backyard and taking advantage of special and activities at participating Downtown Kid's Week businesses.

Kids Meet the City | A tour of California history especially for kids

This tour is specially designed to serve as a fun and interactive way to introduce local history to students of all ages. This unique walk through downtown will explore the Gold Rush, the history and route of the famed Pony Express, John Sutter’s place in California history, and the Big Four of the railroad industry as well as offer an introduction to city government with a visit into City Council Chambers.

Il Fornaio staff will set the kids up with dough, sauce and toppings and then they will bake, cut and serve the kid's creations. Kid's are also encouraged to participate in a "Back of the Menu" arts contest. All entrants will receive a complimentary cookie. Winners will receive a special grand prize.

The Melting Pot
